Cell Phones Questions & Answers

Get or wait

Posted by snatchlax17 on Feb 04, 2010

My contracts up in a few months, and I've been hearing rumors about various different phones circling about, one being the Nexus One on verizon, and the Blackberry Tour2. I find myself torn in deciding to hop on android or to hit up blackberry. I'm not looking for a flashy device just something to surf the web, check email, possibly play a few games, and listen to music. So any help on weighing my decision?

Level 1 I would get the nexus one or even the droid. If web surfing and some game playing is what you want then don't get the tour2.Blackberry is still a businessman's phone.
The web experience is not as good and it mite be some time before blackberry browsers are up to par. Plus the nexus one has a 1ghz processor and a oled screen this is good stuff. So I would wait till the nexus one comes out for BIG RED or you could wait and see what comes out in the frist half of the year I think that some realy cool stuff mite still come out. Hope this helps.

Level 2 Go for Android if you are looking for a consumer phone. Blackberry is what you want if you are looking towards a business phone.

Level 3 I've got a nexus and my gf has a bold2 and I can safely say the web experience on the nexus is much much better.

Level 1 Get or wait? Excellent question. If you get something now...something newer and better will come out in a few months.
I bought my Storm a little over a year ago and thought this phone would be the last one for me ever.
A little over a year later and I have the Droid. Am I enjoying it, yes. Do I regret buying it, no.

But now newer phones are coming soon. Newer and sometimes better.

But I do not regret buying it. I will just wait a year and go again.

Level 2 There will always be something coming out that adds a better feature or has better specs so the best thing to do would be to pick the device that has a form factor you will be comfortable with. IMO you will see the Droid and the N1 are major players in the android ecosystem for at least the next 18 months and hopefully longer. The deciding factor for me is that as much as everyone is complaining how bad the support channel for the nexus one is the device hasnt been out for 3 months and it is recieving a software update. I want to be in the constant upgrade lineup and phones not in the nexus line will have to recieve the os upgrades to the manufactor for tweaking to their hardware if they want to then submitted to the carrier the equipment is sold for then after that approval process (time unknown) then the ota will come to my device. vs the N1 os upgrade path google then manufactor then me

Level 2 Dude go for the Droid. It is a monster. Like the other guys said, there will always be something new coming down the pipe, but with all it can do, it will not dissapoint. The one thing BB has on it, is if you are an email monster more than browser/app monster, then BB ahndles them quicker faster and easier. BUt for emial being a secondary item, or not highly time sensitive, then you're ready to rock on the droid!

Level 3 go for it, the processor in the droid is about as good as you can get right now, so no worries there. Not only that but the droid is the best android phone out there with a keyboard, in fact its the only good one with a keyboard. My mom just bought the new storm 2 and i have to say its a terrible disappointment had i known that i would have told her to get the pre plus.

Level 2 May be most people are waiting for Nexus one than the droid.
